ABOUT RANGE SCIENCE
Knowledge is required to help solve a perceived conflict in the use and value of rangelands in Florida. It has become increasingly important to understand how livestock production can be increased, and how these increases affect wildlife, water quality and soil nutrients, and at the same time, how environmental and biodiversity regulations affect the livestock industry. A state-wide, comparitive, and interdisciplinary approach must be taken to understand the complex interactions of animal production, range plants, wildlife populations (including game), water and soil dynamics, and management decisions.

GOALS OF THE PROGRAM
1. To use an integrated, state-wide program,
2. To develop strategies and research for economically-viable livestock industries, while sustaining rangelands, enhancing wildlife, and protecting water and soil resources;
3. To make new knowledge available to targeted audiences to facilitate informed management and regulatory decisions regarding livestock, rangelands, wildlife, and water and soil resources.
