Biography

Marian has been around forests and wood products since he was a young boy in his native country Romania. In 1994 he moved to Canada where he received a Ph.D. in Forestry. In Canada, Marian worked as a Forest Products Economist at FP Innovations, the largest integrated forest products research institute in the world. There, he developed a forest-to-product program to analyze the global trade flow of forest products and to optimize the decision interactions between forestry sectors.

In Florida, Marian has developed a research and extension program that addresses two areas of stringent importance to the state:

  1. Sustainability of bioenergy from forest biomass.
  2. Increasing the competitiveness of the forest products industry in the 21st century.

Marian loves the outdoors and wishes he had time for woodcarving and cabinetry.
